STOP received a call last night at 10:01pm from the San Francisco Police Department, SF International Airport that they have an HP laptop with a STOP Security plate in their Lost & Found. Contacted the larger accounting firm that owned the laptop with the details and they assisted the user in recovering her laptop.

I received a call from a gentleman who explained that his wife, a former company employee that owned the device, has been attempting to return her company laptop for nearly a year. Despite multiple requests, they have not received a shipping label, and due to growing frustration, he is considering disposing of the laptop himself. Contacted the company admin with the information. They were able to contact the gentlemen and send a pre-paid shipping label. Laptop in transit.

A person recently purchased a used laptop in Iraq and noticed it had a “STOP Theft” security tag. Upon removing the sticker, they saw it is marked as “Stolen Property.” They requested we ensure this device is not stolen and to resolve any potential ownership issues. Looking for proper steps that they should take to return it to its rightful owner if stolen. Confirmed with original owner this laptop is not stolen it was picked up by EPC on disposal order. Laptop Clean & Free of original owner.

Received a call from Police Officer in Sugar Land, TX. on Friday, Nov. 8,2024 at 4:40pm that he found an HP ZBook laptop on a sidewalk with a STOP security plate ID#. The laptop will be stored in the property room for safe keeping until KPMG admin reached out to them to discuss recovery. Contacted the company, a large accounting firm that owns the laptop and created an incident report. Recovery currently in process.

A good Samaritan contact us to report that they received an apple iPad from a donation center with a STOP Security Plate. Informed her I would reach out to the university registered to the STOP ID# to confirm if this device has been decommission and free & clear of ownership. Confirmed with the university that the device was retired a nd provided her with new registration information for the STOP Security Plate.

Received a call from Amy at FedEx Services, Package Research & Recovery in Salt Lake, UT. They have a package that has lost its shipping information while in transit. The package contained a HP laptop with the STOP security plate ID#. Contacted company
that owns the laptop and they confirmed they are in the process of recovering the device.

It was left with the Safety and Security | Portland Medical Center lost & found in Oregon. Reached out to the STOP admin for a community college via email with the details. They responded informing me the recovery is in process.

Good Samaritan contacted STOP today to advise that she found a STOP-tagged Microsoft Notebook at Smart Living at Cypress Creek Apartment Homes in Houston, TX. It was found tossed on the property, along with an empty purse; most likely stolen and abandoned once they saw the STOP plate. Spoke with admin of the hospital that owned the device and are in the process of coordinated the recovery.

"Another alternative is to attach a security plate to the laptop, so as to squelch the resale value of a stolen PC. STOP Security Plate, for instance, is a metal warning plate that affixes to a laptop using Very High Bond (VHB) adhesive. It features a chemically bonded tattoo beneath, stating "Stolen Property," along with high visibility stickers..."

CSUN Police Department (PD) is selling Security Tracking of Office Property (S.T.O.P.), a theft deterrent plate for electronic devices, for the first time ever in the Matador Bookstore. 
Since S.T.O.P.’s inception in 2006, the plates were only available for purchase at PD headquarters and at the campus police substation on Zelzah Avenue adjacent to campus.
